Peterborough 36C for Thursday, yeah right

Even Glasgow's on 33C!

I know this computer generated but yuo'd think they could strip
out nonsense like this.

I thought that cooler weather was supposed to be coming in
by midweek anyway.

Don't tell me - even 28C for Lerwick...

I wish you could strip out the hot weather itself so easily.

Looks like Thursday at the earliest now, more likely Friday.

Not quite, I think it was 19C which is of course very warm for up there.

Well I think it's great. I guess living in a part of the country where
hot weather doesn't happen as often as in the south, you appreciate
it more. Better than miserable rain....

The BBC website is saying 32C for Dundee for Thursday.

What makes me laugh (even more) is the way they say at the end of each
forecast "see the BBC weather website for more information". Like
there's ever been anything sensible on it. (I exaggerate slightly for
effect.) But do you think they ever look at it themselves?

Perhaps I have been a little harsh.
The BBC site is going for 34C in SE England for Thursday
so I guess it's not *that* ridiculous a prediction. I didn't think
it was gonig to be so hot to be honest, more of a normal kind
of a hot spell, around 30C in the south, 27 or so here.

The highest I've ever seen p.404 was 38C, which at the time
I considered ludicrous. But this was 10th August 2003. I think
the forecast was for the Channel Islands but even so it wasn't
too wide of the mark.

Default Ceefax p.406 going silly again,

Never mind page 406 going silly, as I stated to Graham Easterling before,
page 404 has to be considered useless at times. Yesterday, for example it
was showing cloudy virtually all day for Newquay, when in fact it was
endless sunshine with just wispy cirrus. Also the reports have a habit of
indicating clear as the weather type at 6pm and I didn't realise that time
had flown so quickly, must go get my winter jumpers out. More often than
not ceefax is indeed useless.

My 2 pence worth.

I find that the rainfall page is quite sensible, because as well as the
past position of echoes in two hourly steps (which makes a decent
animation), there are forecast 4 hourly frames for the next 24 hours,
which I assume come directly from the mesoscale model. You do have to
take it with a certain pinch of salt, but in some showery conditions
(sea breeze convergence) it can be uncannily accurate, and it forecast
we would have continuous rain for almost 24 hours last Monday, which we
did. Saved me a lot of wasted time, and backache, watering the garden.

Wanna swap?

On second thoughts, maybe I could swap with someone in Lerwick...

The BBC website forecasts (and those on Ceefax 406) are a joke. On
Friday they were forecasting snow showers and a maximum of 24C for
Aberdeen on Tuesday. Yesterday they forecast 30C as a maximum for
Thursday.

Aberdeen.
