Wednesday, 05 July 2006
BRACKNELL (TAWFIELD)
0900 SSW F1 2000 +RA BR 3/ST 8/NS T186D176
RMK: 3St~006, 8Ns~020. Everything 'steaming' nicely, as the humidity
increases due to the intense rainfall. State of ground wet!
[ OVERNIGHT DATA (18Z - 09Z):
screen min: 17.1 grass min: 14.9 precipitation: 8.6 [24hr total: 08.6
mm]
other data:
slight, temporarily moderate, thunderstorm (judging by intensity of
discharges) between 0518Z (first thunder heard) & 0645Z (10 mins after
last thunder heard), accompanied by slight-to-moderate rainfall.
Discharge activity seemed to be medium level, no Cb detected, though
suspect it had a high-base buried in the thick/extensive Sc/Ac sheet. As
rain set in, it became very misty, 3000M for a time, as dew point rose
and wind fell away [true dead-calm for some time].]=

1800 SW F3 25km - 2/CU 7/SC //SC T193D161
RMK: 2Cu hum~015/018, 7Sc (thick, but with a few brief gaps)~025,
another layer of (thin) Sc above~040/050, but also a glimpse of blue
sky - we have had very brief sunshine over past couple of hours, but
with considerable convective infill.
[ DAYTIME DATA (09Z - 18Z):
screen max: 21.8 precipitation: 1.8
other data: morning rainfall total was 10.2mm, with a further 0.2mm this
afternoon from some scrappy showers, total for the event 10.4mm,
representing nearly a quarter of our 'normal' June rainfall. Soil nicely
moist, but despite the high dew-point, other surfaces have steadily
evaporated to a dry state. ]=
