Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Friday. Issued 0538z,
10 July 06. The outlook for the weekend is a largely settled one with plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures across much of England and Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland will be cloudier and breezier, but should be largely dry. ECMWF: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Recm1201.gif High pressure is centred over the North Sea, leading to ENE'lies for England and Wales with southerlies elsewhere. The winds become light over most areas at T+144 as high pressure persists over the UK. By T+168 Scotland and Northern Ireland are covered by a ridge and light winds, with NE'lies elsewhere. MetO: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rukm1201.gif Light winds cover most of the UK with high pressure over the North Sea. The high moves ENE'wards at T+144, leaving NE'lies across England and southerlies or SSW'lies elsewhere. GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.png Easterlies and SE'lies cover England and Wales respectively, due to high pressure over the North Sea. Winds are southerlies elsewhere and much the same is true at T+144. Day 7 sees high pressure over Denmark with a ridge affecting the UK; winds remain easterlies and southerlies over the UK. GEM: http://meteocentre.com/models/glb00_120.html A ridge from the east covers the UK, leading to light winds for England and Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland lie under SW'lies. JMA: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rjma1201.gif The Japanese run brings a ridge across England and Wales with light winds. Scotland and Northern Ireland are affected by SW'lies due to a low to the NW. NOGAPS: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rngp1201.gif NOGAPS also shows a ridge over the UK, this time across northern England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Scotland lies under SW'lies while southern England is covered by NE'lies. |
