It was looking as though there could be record temperatures today, by 9am
the temp' here was 23.8ºC. The highest value I've ever seen at 9am, by quite
a marigin too! Several places around the country were similar.. But
increasing cloud cover in the late morning spoiled the party.
The maximum here was 28.2ºC and I notice Prestwick acheived 30ºC. One thing
that really stood out was the high dew point / humidty, which hovered around
20ºC for much of the afternoon... rather unusual in Scotland - so it did
feel rather sultry.
Increasing during late afternoon / early evening an onshore breeze is
making its way the 40 or so miles from the east coast to this location,
cooling things down quite markedly. It's certainly made the Met office
prediction for Edinburgh to reach 31ºC look rather silly - I wonder why this
wasn't forseen?

Now that the easterly is established, I'm sure it'll take hold tomorrow
also. Therefore I'm guessing this site will be cooler tomorrow, than
today -- but still locations in the south and south west of Scotland could
achieve something damn close to the record. Edinburgh 34ºC - I think not!
