Martin,

I just want to say many thanks for your detailed reports. They have been an
interesting read of events not far from home. I'm just wondering what state
the garden will be in. My daughter says she's been watering the baskets, but
the dahlia flower beds I imagine have collapsed! Find out tomorrow.

Phil

.... unless there has been *frequent* watering, the baskets may have
dried out - we find that the combination of strong sunshine, brisk wind
& low humidity means we have to dampen the baskets on the sunward side
of the house several times per day: got a big tub out the back to
collect all the 'grey' water and use that rather than using pure
tap-water. The rest of the garden is looking quite sorry for itself - we
selectively water from the aforementioned recycled water, but it's a
losing battle.

Martin.
