Very heavy rain. Thunder every approx every 30 seconds. Street lights are on
as it is very dark. My road is flooded 2ft deep due to leaves being washed on the drains where the trees have been shedding leaves due to lack of water. The beach in town was packed a couple of hours ago. No one on the beach now! http://www.a1surf.com/surfcheck-bournemouthcam.html Gary Bournemouth town centre, Dorset. |

Just spoke to my mum near Christchurch and she said it was pretty horrendous; the rain sounding pretty heavy over the phone. I noticed the clearance on the beach :-) Radar currently showing a further development in a fairly intense line from Bournemouth up towards Brize Norton. Thorney Island's reported 2.4mm in the hour to 1100Z but not much elsewhere . Jon. |

Yeh, I have never seen it get so dark so quickly in Bournemouth town centre,
just before the heavens opened. It was pitch black. People were coming out of the shops and staring upwards in disbelief. Just before the rain started, the wind got up very quickly and swept up sand into the town centre from the beach. Not sure if it was the ionisation of the air or something, but 15 minutes before all of this I came over very strange ! Anyone else get this sort of premonition ? All quiet now at 13:40. Sun should be out soon, I think. Wow, that was something else.. ! |

Wind got up, gusting over 20kt, pressure jumped by 2mb and 17mm of rain fell in 20 minutes. Walking across Kings Park on my way to the footie 2h later and the grass was still waterlogged.. probably just sitting on the very hard surface. One of the better weather events I've experienced ![]() Jim. |
