uk.sci.weather (UK Weather) (uk.sci.weather) For the discussion of daily weather events, chiefly affecting the UK and adjacent parts of Europe, both past and predicted. The discussion is open to all, but contributions on a practical scientific level are encouraged. |

Between June 1 and July 20 Charlwood averaged 0.2 degC below Wisley (on hot Thu it was exactly 0.2 degC below coincidentally). Since then it has been +1.4 on Fri, +1.0 on Sun, +1.3 on Mon and +1.2 on Tue. There were odd occasions before with differences of +1.0 or more, but never several days in a row. I'm actually more concerned about Thurleigh (Bedford) which appears to have shifted sharply on July 5, possibly as a result of an excessively adjacent lightning strike during the storm on July 4. From June 1 to July 4 Bedford averaged 0.5 degC below nearby Woburn, but from July 5 onwards 0.6 degC above. The daily figures are very consistent, and this is a clear step change. Reference to other sites indicates that the fault is in the Thurleigh record, not the Woburn one. Philip |

Not when I lived 'down the road' it wasn't! ![]() still is in Cheshire, on the A6 and adjacent to the Stockport boundary of South Eastern Greater Manchester. As for Wisley, I enjoyed a nice Hayley Westenra picnic concert there a few weeks ago and as you would expect, the weather was... perfect. The music wasn't bad either! Back on topic, well nearly, Disley is a mere 5 miles NE of Woodford airfield and SYNOP station. ![]() Why isn't Woodford reported on the SYNOP sites I visit? OGIMET and our very own Keith's www.southendweather.net (which is presumably the fault of his SYNOP data source) ? I'd have thought Woodford had been open long enough now for this to have filtered though. Is it publicly reported anywhere? Or is it top secret? ![]() -- Dave Fareham |

In message , Joe Hunt
writes Charlwood seems to be top of the leader board a lot recently - is this genuine ? I suspect it is. Don't forget that the hottest last Wednesday was actually at Bisley, 0.2 degC warmer than Charlwood and also in Surrey. For the moment, Surrey is the new Cheltenham Hey, we only missed by 0.4C... ![]() -- Paul Hyett, Cheltenham (change 'invalid83261' to 'blueyonder' to email me) |
