uk.sci.weather (UK Weather) (uk.sci.weather) For the discussion of daily weather events, chiefly affecting the UK and adjacent parts of Europe, both past and predicted. The discussion is open to all, but contributions on a practical scientific level are encouraged. |

Graphics again showing a widespread area of rain and showers moving through
home counties. Much more patchy looking on the radar with the usual fading out looking possible. Presenter spoke as if it had been a poor day in the S.E. It was breezy here with some cloud but temperature almost made 25C as it has every day this month. Last measurable rain here was 2mm, twenty days ago, on the 11th. Dave, S.Essex |

Dave, S.Essex Dont bother watching the forecasts on tv anymore , they spend more on uprated graphics and stupid panning and less of the correct forecasts. They are crap , fire the bloody lot of em! |

I wouldn't say that. It's just occasionally when they are wildly out they don't give any reason and generally imply that it was right. In actual fact the forecast for last night turned out to be good with my first measurable rain, 2mm, for 20 days. Dave |

Dave A display of current or near real time radar would be more useful than the messy graphics much of the time. Also any satellite photos are not timed and simply say "earlier". So much has been ranted on about the BBC displays but we may as well keep going... David |

A cable channel with no inane banter - in fact, no voice at all. All it had was a continuous loop of:- 1. Local Radar 2. Local weather reports/temperatures/dew points/pressure 3. 24hr Forecast barometric chart with some overlayed percentages. 4. 48hr " 6. A 5 day sequence of Day/Night pictoral representations of forecast conditions - presumably for the benefit of the few viewers who couldn't follow barometric and observation charts. 7. Icing conditions (this was in winter) Fantastic what you can do with modern technology? Erm... no. This was 21 years ago. The BBC really need to try and catch up with that first... |
