Default Today's model interpretation (1/08/06)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Saturday. Issued
0534z, 1 August 2006.

The models show a generally settled picture for England and Wales, although
some output shows a less settled outlook for Northern Ireland and Scotland.
MetO stands out today as offering a much warmer outlook across the UK,
although the GFS also brings some hot weather across southern England on
Sunday.

A ridge covers England and Wales, bringing light westerlies. Scotland and
Northern Ireland lie under a trough from the NW, with SW'lies as a result. A
weak trough moves eastwards at T+144 with westerlies for all, followed by
light winds on day 7 as high pressure builds atop the UK.

all. There's little change at T+144.

GFS: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/pslv_frame.htm
High pressure is centred to the south of Ireland with a ridge over the UK.
Winds are northerlies over England and Wales with SW'lies elsewhere. The
high moves eastwards and declines at T+144, leaving the UK under WNW'lies.
By day 7 a ridge builds to the west with NNW'lies for all.

A ridge from the west covers the UK with NNW'lies for England and Wales.
Scotland and Northern Ireland are affected by SW'lies.

elsewhere.

NOGAPS: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rngp1201.gif
