Good evening everyone.
We were just sitting under +38.5C (today's max) and were thinking about our dream winter. Wijke wants the first snow to settle on dutch grounds around mid December and settled conditions thereafter, so that temperatures drop considerably and ice is allowed to form in the open. An anticyclone should then form over N or NW Europe and allow very cold air masses to go all the way down to Greece, thus resulting in massive snowfall events around Athens. The Netherlands will be lounging below a really cold air pool until mid March, while record low temperatures should be observed in Greece. Anyone care share their dream winter with us? P.S.: We understand that our assumptions may be contradicting the basics of atmosphere physics, but we truely believe that our dream senario is feasible, given a spell of increased seismicity on Mars and Venus in mid November (earth time) ;-) Yannis, Wijke, SE Athens +32.6C, RH 28% |
