Been another warm & sunny day in the Bay, Max 22.7C (yesterday 22.3C)
still & humid. Once again these temperatures have resulted in huge Cb developing just inland. In particular a virtually stationary, small but intense shower/thunderstorm has been idling around to the south of Hayle. (Sea breeze convergence area.) this afternoon. The 14:30 & 15:30 rainfall radar show it up rather well. At 15:55 there was a clear tornado near the southern edge of this storm, I'd estimate 3 or 4 miles S or SSE of Hayle. I dashed the 5 minutes home to get the camera, but too late. I have got a couple of pics of the cloud. MCC - See anything from Stithians? Apparently the brief but severe thunderstorm we had at 17:30 yesterday deposited very large hail at Gulval, 1 mile to the east. No hail here. So plenty of warm sunshine & exciting weather. Some very attractive altocumulus castellanus out to sea. Graham Penzance |
