Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Thursday. Issued
0536z, 19 August 2006. The models show a westerly regime on the way for the end of the week, with transient ridges and troughs, with all areas seeing rain at times. ECMWF: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Recm1201.gif A ridge and light winds cover the UK. A trough moves in from the west at T+144, resulting in SSW'lies over Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Much of England remains under a ridge with lighter SW'lies. By T+168 the trough moves over the North Sea, leaving a mixture of NW'lies and WNW'lies in its wake. Winds are a mixture of southerlies and SE'lies over the UK, followed by NE'lies for many areas at T+144 as the low moves eastwards over East Anglia. The trough fills over the English Channel at T+144 and by day 7 a ridge covers England and Wales, with SW'lies elsewhere.
