Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Friday. Issued 0532z,
4 September 2006. GFS is out on a limb with its unsettled output today. The other major models show a settled and warm outlook, with high pressure dominating the UK this weekend. ECMWF: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Recm1201.gif High pressure covers England and Wales with light winds. Scotland and Northern Ireland lie under SW'lies, followed by more of the same at T+144. By T+168 a new high lies to the west of Scotland with SW'lies for most of the UK. MetO: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rukm1201.gif The Met Office run shows a high over northern England, with ENE'lies and easterlies to the south and SW'lies for Northern Ireland and Scotland. By T+144 the high moves eastwards with a ridge persisting over the UK. Winds remain ENE'lies for England and Wales, with westerlies for Scotland and light winds over Northern Ireland. The low fills and moves NE'wards at T+144, leaving westerlies over England and Wales, light winds over Northern Ireland and northerlies for Scotland.
