Tuesday, 05 September 2006
BRACKNELL (TAWFIELD)
0900 SSW F3 35km - 1/CU 8/SC T207D178
RMK: trCu hum~015, 8Sc~045 (opaque). The Sc did show signs of minute
gaps an hour ago, but now looks quite 'solid'; unless there is a change
of airmass, this lot looks as if it might cause problems for the 'sunny'
story!
[ OVERNIGHT DATA (18Z - 09Z):
screen min: 18.2 grass min: 16.4 precipitation: NIL [24hr total: 00.0
mm]
other data: 24hr min (at 09Z yesterday) was 18.1°C: warmest night for
September (by some way) in our short record [ began 2000 ]. ]=

1300 WSW F3 50km - 2/CU 7/SC T241D155
RMK: 2Cu hum~035, 7Sc~045. OVC SC began to 'convect' ~1205Z, then a
temporary decrease to SCT CUSC, before 'overconvection' kicked in and we
went back to 7 oktas (with enough breaks for occasional sunshine). The
Larkhill ascent suggests that the cloud should come down to half-cover
at these temperatures, so there is hope!=

Notes:

The basic first-line format is:-
[Time/GMT]
[Wind direction .. compass points]
[Wind speed .. Beaufort force]
[Visibility .. metres / (km =10km)]
[Visibility .. significant variation/direction]
[Weather groups .. if any]
[Cloud layers .. amount/type]
[Screen temperature/T .. degrees/tenths]
[Dewpoint temp/D .. degrees/tenths]
[RMK .. additional/plain language information]

1400 WSW F3 50km - 1/CU 5/SC T252D152
RMK: 1Cu hum~038, 5Sc~048, clear above. Getting there slowly - a
definite 'edge' to the Sc just to the south of us (probably a subtle
change of humidity at that level), which should make its way north.
Feeling very warm - fine for me, but perhaps too warm for some.=

RMK: 6Sc~048, thin/large breaks; clear above. Excellent visibility -
not sure where the air has come from, but for such a high dew point,
would have expected something a little poorer.=
