....is now forecasting rain in "lumps". (BBC standing-up/sitting-down news
at 18:00)

Is this a new meteorological term, or has he completely lost the plot?

His reference to "Gordon" as "our tropical troublemaker, going to cause an
umbrella day" had me reaching (literally), and also reaching for the off
switch and handy scotch bottle!

Perhaps it'll be hail and he forgot the technical term? :-)

I missed this. I am curious- did he say we would have to stand at
Land's End with an umbrella, or anywhere in the UK. I thought at 0900
that this was all over (unless you live in SW Ireland)

Difficult to say, with his manic arm windmilling, exactly where we would
need umbrellas, but I think the mobile map thingy was passing Northern
Ireland at the time !

Nice to see Isobel Lang moved to $ky news. Their weather presentations are
now much more watchable than those of the BBC and include places outside the
UK. I think others who want to be taken seriously and not cut short by
trailers might follow.

You must have missed him outdoing himself before then. On a few
forecasts he has predicted 'bubbly rain'.

That's sad to hear, I always liked seeing Ms Lang, though I wish she put
some meat on her bones !
