Fifth month of recording at Canterbury:

January was another dry month - that make 5 months on the trot that
below-average rainfall has been recorded. Despite being particularly
warm, there was a notable cold spell between then 20th and the 25th
which brought slight snow showers (enough for a dusting) on ground above
about 50m on 25th. The high temperature on the 20th of 13.2°C was the
highest temperature recorded since 26th November; the mean temperature
in January was some 0.9°C above that for December. The three months of
November, December and January have seen a total rainfall of just 97.4mm
(39%*).
