Just an update from my post of yesterday 17mm of rain fell in Redhill,
Surrey during quite a sharp thunderstorm around 18.00hrs. I had just 1mm 4 miles to the north. Ian Currie-Coulsdon, Surrey www.frostedearth.com |

Ian Currie-Coulsdon, Surrey www.frostedearth.com I was underneath the 17mm - which all fell within 15 minutes, accompanied by almost continuous lightning and thunder. The drains could not cope and there were 25cm deep puddles in places with flooding into buildings where it simply came under the doors. Once the rain diminished the waters receded quickly with whirlpools showing where the drains were. Chris Curtis |

Yeah, I know what you mean with these downpours, see my post entitled Belated (WR) Nebwury dated 14th September which pretty much got ignored at the time. 28mm (adjusted later to 27mm) of rainfall fell during that 20-30 minute event on that day and unofficially we were the wettest place (45mm) in the country, ahead of Brize Norton which was suggested by the MO. I videoed minor flooding from the storm that day and the storm also made the local paper as it always does in this cases. Regards Tony |
