A European satellite that will help to improve weather forecasting and
climate monitoring has been given a new launch date, following delays. MetOp-A is one of three satellites that will provide meteorological data from a polar orbit around Earth. It is scheduled to launch on 17 October from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. On 30 September, the spacecraft was dropped a few centimetres while being positioned on a train for transport to the launch pad at Baikonur. More at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/5411476.stm |
