Local roads are badly flooded and traffic disrupted. Over the past year we have had many severe weather warnings for conditions that didn't happen. Now we have probably the most disruptive weather around here in the past year but there's no severe weather warning this time. Ah! - The joys of weather forecasting :-) Moderate rain continues at 1820z. Norman. Over the same period I had a total of 4mm of rain with a amximum rate of 18mm of hour so the very heavy rain missed me. I must be only 10 miles awy to the NE. I had another 3mm between 1600 and 1645 BST giving a total of 7mm for the day. This just demonstrates the flaws in the severe weather warning system as if one was issued for this event it would probably covered both our locations due to the broad scale used. Alan Gardiner Chiswell Green, St Albans 101m ASL There was a severe weather warning issued eventually for Buckinghamshire but only after the event was over here. I'm not sure whether or not there was one issued for Hertfordshire. Norman. (delete "thisbit" twice to e-mail) -- Norman Lynagh Weather Consultancy Chalfont St Giles 85m a.s.l. England |
