Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Sunday. Issued 0507z,
11 October 2006. The runs continue to show a dry and relatively warm outlook for the UK, with one notable exception. The GFS instead shows low pressure dominating the scene, deepening as it moves slowly eastwards and resulting in wet and windy weather for all. However, it receives no support from the other runs, so at the moment dry conditions are more likely. ECMWF: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Recm1201.gif High pressure covers the Baltic, with a ridge over the UK. Winds are easterlies for England and Wales with southerlies elsewhere. A col brings light winds for all at T+144, followed by northerlies for Scotland and Northern Ireland at T+168 due to a ridge to the NW. Elsewhere winds remain light due to a col. MetO: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rukm1201.gif The MetO run shows a high over Finland and easterlies across the UK. The easterlies persist at T+144 as a ridge moves over Scotland. GFS: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/pslv_frame.htm A low covers Scotland, with a trough across Wales and the SW of England. Ahead of the trough winds are SSW'lies and southerlies, with NW'lies following behind. The low deepens at T+144, leading to stronger westerlies and NW'lies. By T+168 the low continues to deepen, by now over the North Sea. Winds remain strong westerlies and NW'lies over the UK. GEM: http://meteocentre.com/models/glb00_120.html Unavailable at time of issue. JMA: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rjma1201.gif SE'lies cover the UK with high pressure over Scandinavia. NOGAPS: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rngp1201.gif NGP also shows a large Scandinavian High, this time resulting in ESE'lies for the UK. |
