Weather dominated by the severe flooding 8th/9th January and appears worse
than the floods of 1968, from reports the flood waters were some 3 feet higher. Fortunately I live on higher ground to the East so escaped the worst, my Stevenson screen escaped damage by a whisker as a large wooden garden bench was blown up and over the screen during the night on the 7th/8th Climat Station Obs for Jan 2005 Highest Max 12.9 9th Lowest Max 1.4 22nd Lowest Min -4.1 23rd Highest Min 7.5 16th Lowest Grass Min -8.2 23rd Mean Max 8.0 Mean Min 2.4 Mean 5.2 Rainfall Total 94.1mm wettest day 47.6mm 7th Jan ( second highest fig since 1999) Air min below 0.0c - 6 grass min below 0.0c - 16 concrete min 0.0c - 13 1 day with snow at 0900hrs obs, 18th Jan ( 1cm) Sledging days - 0 Snowball days - 0 Sunshine Total 32.6hrs more details on the web site later -- Paul Crabtree Brampton N.E.
