Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Friday. Issued 0505z,
16 October 2006. The runs show a wet and windy outlook for much of the UK with low pressure close to the west. ECMWF: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Recm1201.gif Low pressure is centred to the west of the UK with a trough over Scotland. Winds are WSW'lies for most, although northern Scotland lies under easterlies. SW'lies affect the UK at T+144 as the trough moves northwards and there's little change at T+168 with further SW'lies for all. MetO: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rukm1201.gif The MetO run shows a low to the west with SW'lies and SSW'lies across the UK. GFS: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/pslv_frame.htm Strong westerlies cover much of the UK with a low east of Scotland. The winds become SW'lies at T+144 as a trough fills to the west of Scotland and by day 7 strong southerlies affect all areas, ahead of a new low to the west. GEM: http://meteocentre.com/models/glb00_120.html Unavailable at time of issue. JMA: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rjma1201.gif The Japanese run shows a trough over the UK, leading to SW'lies for England and Wales and easterlies elsewhere. NOGAPS: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rngp1201.gif Westerlies cover the UK due to a low to the NE and a weak ridge over the Celic Sea. |
