On Monday I will be involved in a paint application trial on a small
section of the sea wall at Brighton Marina. Heavy rain would be unpleasant and possibly detrimental to the application, however gales and the consequent high seas would make this downright dangerous. The area to be coated is intertidal so we willl really be exposed here! Any ideas on likely weather conditions? -- Col Bolton, Lancashire 160m asl |

Very tricky Col. If you take the MetO 12Z FAX charts literally then it looks
like rain is on the cards but the strongest winds look like passing to the south. But ... too close for comfort and there has to be a risk of WSW strong winds. I would expect there to be a moderate sea running along the Channel but obviously if the low is further north or develops more then that could change. I would say that, apart from the real threat of heavy rain that the odds are 70:30 in your favour. Good luck! Will. -- "Col" wrote in message ... It's a west facing breakwater which would be more exposed, but the exposure is the reason for carrying out the trial in the first place as such a location would provide the sternest test of the paint system we are trying to put down. Thanks for your input Will, earlier forecasts had suggested just scattered showers. Good luck? I think I'll need it! -- Col Bolton, Lancashire 160m asl |
