Default Remarkable temperature - South Devon

Now that the rain has stopped the temperature has lept up to +17 C
(well, 16.9 C actually), DP +15.1 C.

Today's rainfall 9.8mm (134.2mm for the month so far; 750.4mm for the
year so far).

Should there be much in the way of sunshine tomorrow it will be
interesting to see what maximum temperatures are attained: 17 to 19 C
widely across the South, with peaks 20 to 21 C ? We'll see.

Regards,
Richard.

Dartington, South Hams.

Strewth Richard I had 36.8 mm up here.
Monthly total is now 245.7 mm.

Just shows what a bit of height can do!
Present temperature here at 2315 is 13.8 deg C (remarkably high for time of
year/day)

At the other end of the south coast it's currently (2240Z) 15.9C - a
fair bit above the daytime temperatures and worthy of a "blimey, it's
not that cold out" comment as I was walking back from the pub!

Yes, 5 Nov 1938 ... 21.1 (actually, 70°F) at several sites in E.England.
20.7°C was reached at Aber (north Welsh coast) on 17th Nov 1997
during a föhn ... the max was recorded after dark.

It might be warm this year, but it was actually warmer last October. I
recorded 20.6C on the 30th October 2005 here in Canterbury. The mean,
mean maximum and mean minimum are all lower than last year's October (to
date).

My warmest October was 2001 (14.5C), followed by 2005 & 1995 (both
14.0C).

Looks like being about 14.7 this year.

Had that happened today the papers would be shrieking about
'freak weather' and saying how it 'proved' that global warming
was happening, as if any one event 'proves' anything!
