Just returned from a quick walk around the local area: deciduous trees
'turning' more definitely now, but still a surprising amount of 'green' to the leaf canopy. The cold night we had 26th/27th seems to have triggered a change, at least in the local Maples & Oaks, though even these are still 80% 'green', though rather tired-looking. Back in the garden - a fine showing from potted Fuchsia: nothing remarkable of course as they can flower well into winter given the right conditions, and with temperatures running at an anomaly well above +3degC hereabouts, and abundant rainfall and sunshine, conditions have been near perfect. http://booty.org.uk/booty.weather/me...late_OCT06.jpg All change, at least for a short time, in the coming week, though the 'main' extended-range models don't hold the northerly for long and allow a more westerly / southwesterly type.
