NOTABLE WEATHER
6th Very large swell.

16th saw a thunderstorm following a rapid temperature rise to a max of
18.1C by 10:30BST. Severe hailstorm at Padstow caused some flooding &
disruption (See www.easterling.freeserve.co.uk/OctEvents.html).

17th-26th saw low pressure close by, often just to the west, giving
some large seas at times. On 24th there was warm sunshine, but a large
swell on the morning high tide (around 07:00) wrecked several cars
parked on the pier at Mousehole. (See

22nd saw some torrential rain - 32mm 11:00-13:00, more towards the
north coast of west Cornwall. Flooding in Cardis Bay, St Ives &
Penzance. All followed by another thunderstorm on 23rd.

29th was exceptionally warm in Cornwall, most inland areas exceeding
19C (19.7C at Cardingham). It turned fresher and cooler on 31st.
