October was another warm month, with mean temperatures some 2.8C above
normal. This was mainly due to consistently warm days rather than a few
hot days - only one day in the month failed to reach 15C. 28.2mm of rain
on the 23rd is the highest 24-hour total I have recorded since before
September 2004. The monthly total rainfall was just about average.
