Within the last half hour, shallow fog has been forming to
the northwest where the sky is free of cloud. Much thick CI in the southeast half with CB and anvils visible on the edge of this sheet to the southwest where one bright flash of sheet lightning was seen at 2115Z and another, fainter discharge at 2145Z. I seemed to follow the rain around but there was a lot of surface water so I just missed it.. at least twice! ![]() Dave Fareham (West) Activity has stepped up in our location during the past 10 hours with thunder and lightning at 2335Z (a particularly loud and long lasting rumble at 2340Z about 1 mile to the SE) and two blustery hail showers (no thunder so far) since 0600Z today. Only 0.8mm of rain fell in the storm, so I guess the core of the CB just missed us by a fraction. Over the past 5 years (2002 to 2006) we have experienced a greater number of days with thunder in November than in June, 6 (so far) as opposed to 5. Nigel (Romsey, Hampshire) |
