Default Mildness continues

I was just having a glance at my November temperatures as we are now in
the final week, and after reading Will's mild forecast with the
possibility of 16°c early next week wondered where the numbers stood.

Currently 2.2° above the average for the month (10.2°c average maximum
temperature)
Temperature currently 13.2°c and I would expect 14 to 15 overnight in
the warm sector of this developing low.

Rainfall 27.8mm (52%)
Sunshine 115.84% (159%)

Interesting how they talk about a 0.6°c rise in temperature due to
Global Warming, yet localy most months I seem to be 1.5 to 2.5°c above
the average. Maybe the balancing act we be the winter, now there's a
thought ?

Are you sure about this Keith? Our average max is +12.9 C (average min
+2.9 C - lots of air frosts earlier in the month), giving a 24-hr temp
anomaly of -0.3 C. This is likely to turn positive before the end of
the month one thinks.

Regards,
Richard.

Have my doubts Keith, I personally think it will be the warmest winter
for a few years and we will probably have to wait until March or April
for any decent snowfall, bit like last winter really at least here!

.... here in Bracknell, the anomaly on 24hr temperature is currently
+0.8degC.

Are you sure Richard? I take it you are located North Devon?
You got me worried, but I'm sure my figures are correct for my location
at Southend-on-Sea:

*November*
1970-2000 averages / current / difference
Max 10.1°c / 12.3°c / +2.2°c
Min 5.1°c / 6.2°c / +1.1°c
Mean 7.6°c / 9.3°c / +1.7°c (Martin's Bracknell 24hr I assume the mean
was +0.8°c, not a million miles apart, but lower than mine)

Be interested to see what others have, do we have an east/west split?

The problem is, we just don't know ? I just can't believe we are going
to have another mild winter, based on the law of averages

Hi Keith, I am located in South Devon ~7 miles inland from Torquay. The
much higher max's recorded here may be explained by the predominant
WSW'ly that we have experienced - warm winds off the sea, but we had a
remarkable number of frosts early on shortly after the first northerly
plunge of the season. We tend to be very mild here during the darker
months apart from under radiation conditions when we can be as cold as
places much further inland.

Richard.
