Default Thunder activity - Bracknell

To add to the reports (see WR/OBS elsewhere), have just heard that a
house was struck by lightning a few streets away, possibly at the time
of the cable loss; when talking to NTL, they said they had had a large
number of failures across the (local) network due to lightning surges
(RG post codes). The local damage was to the aerial and attached
television, so compared to what it might have been, quite lucky.

Martin.

Interestingly, that 1138z CG flash you reported was also my closest, with a
grounding less than 1km from here at that time, and several other ground
shaking thumps further away (one, no doubt, close to you, certainly towards
the east).
As a precaution, I had my PC disconnected and isolated for some considerable
time just prior to that last flash, as the sky looked very threatening, and
there had been a couple of CC flashes to the SW. As it had been all quiet
for the past 15 mins or so, and the rain intensity was easing down, I
reconnected the PC just about 1 minute before the 'big' one, fortunately
without any ill effects. I only noticed one other CG out of nearly one dozen
CCs.
