The wildest night by far in 5.5 years of living in South Devon.
On the passage of the front there was a severe squall - instantaneous rain rate 256mm/hr with large hail. Max reported gust was 26KT which sounds insignificant but is by far the highest reported in the last 12 months from my very sheltered site. Squall crossed at 0400. Temperature dropped 4 C in 15-mins, accompanied by a 4 C drop in DP. Have to admit to a rather sleepless light as the tiles on the roof constantly shifted and there was audible movement from the solar panels on the roof. I look forward to being amazed if there are not trees down, and buildings damaged not far away. Richard. Dartington, South Devon. |
