Default December 1988

This month reminds me of the very mild December 1988, when we also ended
up with the warmest Winter on record at least here (1960-2006)!
We had 6cms of snow on November 20th 1988 (not even had any snow
this November) then we went all the way through December 88, January 89
and the first 16 days of February 89 before we finally got some snow
with 3cms falling on February 17th!
I am sure we are heading for the same kind of Winter this year but
perhaps warmer!!

I remember that winter. Lovely and mild grin.

Amazing isn't it, only 10th December and already people are writing the winter
off LOL.
Long way to go yet.

Will.

Oops sorry Will it's been so warm lately I thought we'd missed winter

No seriously if the Daily Express are forecasting blizzards that can
only mean one thing, the warmest Winter ever
When have they ever predicted anything right?

Another effect of global warming - winter gets written off earlier and
earlier each year. :-)

If thats the trend Richard, i would like to go on record as writing off next
years winter, you heard it here first ;-) . We're 11 days into this years
winter, and i echo what Will said, long way to go yet, no need to put away
that sled yet. However, I think we're not going to get anything that cold
this side of Christmas.

I certainly haven't given up hope. I reckon we'll be cold in Jan/Feb.
No real reasoning behind it, though, just my general feelings that
things should make up for themselves / long-wave atmospheric patterns
will change during the course of the winter.

All very unscientific I know.

Warm? It's bluddy perishing up here in Cumbria. There's an icy wind out
there.
