"Where's our snow? [ Monday 7th February 2005 ] "Slow close and yet so far with regard the snow we forecast for this week. "Despite some excellent agreement between various models last weekend, everything has now fallen apart and there is no sign of any snowfall in the area for the foreseeable future. "At least for a while it looked as if something very interesting was about to happen. There's always next year! "Winter update - looking dodgy! [ Monday 7th February 2005 ] "How very embarrassing! Our winter forecast is now looking fairly poor, despite a good start in December. "Our forecast of severe cold and snow now looks highly unlikely. We're sure there are lessons to be learnt somewhere ;o) "Roll on Spring and Summer we say. Let's hope for some good thundery activity with the warmer weather." The best years of my life. THE BEST YEARS OF MY LIFE!:-o :-( Discuss. However: "At least for a while it looked as if something very interesting was about to happen" which was did make this winter unusual. I wonder if Rob lived through the so-called "winter" 2002 fiasco?:-( Anyhow, you have just been added to my apology list.:-) D. |

Think on the the mert offices called this winter right, hatsof to them
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/...ook/index.html "Four-week forecast "Valid for Valid for 31 January 2005 to 27 February 2005 "High pressure to the west of the UK is expected to recede slowly southwards during the period, with a cold or very cold spell expected in all areas for a time before temperatures slowly recover from the west later in February. Mainly dry and rather cloudy conditions with near normal temperatures are expected to dominate in early February, but north or east winds during the second week result in temperatures falling sharply, with widespread night frost, and spells of sleet or snow affecting northern and eastern areas. During the second half of the month the cold conditions are expected to give way slowly as a westerly flow develops across the UK, although it may remain generally dry in many areas." The snowmen I should have made. THE SNOWMEN I SHOULD HAVE MADE!:-( Also, learn how to spell.:-( D. |

Bump.:-) Just so that this one doesn't go away, and that EVERYONE can
see Rob Marks' weather forecasting failure.:-D Here is a reminder of his February 2005 forecast: http://www.robmarksmedia.co.uk/eastb...thoutlook1.htm (Also note the date of the update - 30/01/2005.) "Forecast for February 2005 BY ROB MARKS OF HTTP://WWW.ROBMARKSMEDIA.CO.UK/ "This forecast was updated on Sunday 30th January 2005 "1st February - 6th February "A mild start to the month with a lot of cloud at times and some light rain. Turning colder at the end of the week with an increasing risk of some sleet and snow. "7th February - 13th February "A bitterly cold spell of weather is expected with heavy snow at times giving significant accumulations. An area of low pressure will sweep south across the country mid-week bringing a risk of blizzard conditions at times. "14th February - 20th February "High pressure is likely to be in control of the weather this week so expect cool days with plenty of winter sunshine. Frost and fog are likely by night and where any fog lingers during the day it will remain cold. "21st February - 28th February "Another cold week is in store with the winds, once again, coming from an easterly direction. Sub zero temperatures are likely with outbreaks of snow, some of which could be heavy." In conclusion, I say that, once again, as I told Gavin in the latest Gavin thread: If you CAN'T forecast the weather, then DON'T forecast the weather AT ALL. It's as simple as that!:-o :-( :-( D. |
