I am getting fed up with people asking me at work when this snow and cold is going to arrive next week as people are hearing this from a number of sources, Papers and Radio. What really hacks me off is it will be the Met Office who will be criticized when it doesn't happen (as it is not forecast at all in the models), so where is all this Load of Tosh coming from as I am starting to get annoyed with it now as I wish it was true??? I also find it amazing that my prevailing wind has been West (NOT SW) yet temperatures are still well above 10°c. The Daily Express I fear is the source of this and Today Headline is worse... "Huge storm to batter Britain" and from the story... Jonathan Powell, a senior long-range forecaster at Positive Weather Solutions, said: “We expect rain and strong winds to return by late next week. “From Friday onwards, heavy rain is expected, causing localised flooding, and we forecast a sustained period of gale-force winds, harbouring the potential to cause structural damage. “The most significant rainfall will be on Sunday and Monday, but the winds could last between five and seven days.” Then further on in the article... Piers Corbyn, a long-range forecaster at Weather Action who predicted the New Year chaos, said he still expected the weather front to track further south. This would allow an Arctic blast to bring freezing temperatures and up to six inches of snow across the whole country. “One can never be sure of timing, but we think the winds will drift south towards the continent,” he said. “Eastern winds will bring freezing conditions, with heavy snowfall. It will be the worst winter weather of the season so far. “There is intense activity on the weather maps, but the path of the storm will result in either more wind and rain or Arctic conditions.” So the Daily Express can't even decided what type of weather is going to bring havoc to the country. -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |

Never buy, nor read these types of papers (the only use they serve is
when i run out of toilet paper) Until they get some more mature people to write articles, i think i'll leave things this way Sure, they print a lot of piffle, i could get angry about it, but i think ignoring them is a better alternative |
