Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Thursday. Issued
0629z, 6 January 2007. The outlook is still very changeable, with low pressure never far from the UK. All areas will see plenty of rain and strong to gale force west or WSW'lies for the weekend. ECMWF: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/da...mwf/ecmwf.html Strong to gale force westerlies cover the UK with a deep low to the north. The winds become WSW'lies at T+144 as another low moves eastwards, followed by further WSW'lies on day 7. MetO: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/da...ukmo/pslv.html MetO shows westerlies as well, this time with a weak ridge over the UK. A low deepens to the north on day 6, bringing strong to gale force WSW'lies over the UK. GFS: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/pslv_frame.htm WSW'lies cover the UK with a weak ridge over the North Sea. The winds become SW'lies at T+144 ahead of a trough to the west. By day 7 a weak ridge covers the UK with WSW'lies. GEM: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/da.../gem/pslv.html A deep low lies to the west of Scotland, leading to strong WSW'lies for most.
