Default anyone else been banned from TWO FORUMS

Actually Will, looking back I may have taken your post somewhat out of
context? Hope so anyway but the lack of smilies on this stupid newsgroup
doesnt help matters. I like to think that we have had decent, if rare
contact since we had our row and whilst I may sometimes disagree with your
comments, I don't recall seeing any that were abusive at all, as you
suggest.

Just to reiterate though, you were not nearly banned.

Some people seem to think I make the banning decisions on TWO. I don't. They
are a team decision, I just tend to be more vocal than some of my more
refined colleagues, who have the sense to keep a low profile usually :-p

The derogatory comments on here about TWO mean nothing to us anyway. It's
always the same people, with the same tired old arguments. The forum is
strong and succesfull and whilst I can understand that some of the threads
or comments on there are not to your taste, your input on there is looked
out for i'm sure.

Anway, back to the job of co-demon, banning more poor undeserving members
from the hell hole of TWO ------ sarcasm ;-)

That shows how little you know.
This is an unmoderated newsgroup.

What makes you think people here want to read about the petty
squabbles happening on another forum?

Col, most seem to be people who have been banned from TWO forum for some
reason
and hence have big axes to grind.

About a year ago I nearly got banned myself :-O for argueing
(scientifically)
with "big Matty H" (he likes that description :-)). Problem for the mods
was
that my arguments were slowly winning people over and there was a danger
that
the group could split. But to be honest, life is too short and I just
didn't
have the energy or the time to keep up the discussion. Matt and I had an
e-mail
discussion and we resolved our differences in an adult way. I must also
say that
at no stage did I personally insult or threaten anyone, I would never
stoop
*that* low.

Off to watch the footie now, bring on the Dutch ... he he he

Cheers,

Will.

Default dreams vs. reality

I didn't think Paul Bartlett issued a winter forecast this time? Willing to
be proved wrong of course....

You have respected short to mid range forecasters such as Will Hand,

Paul
Bartlett to name but two

Paul Bartlett is "short to mid range" forecasting?:-o He wrote the
winter of 2005 - this current one - off in February, 2004!:-o

and I personally think expecting apologies off
anyone for a forecast based on their own opinions through model
interpretations, is asking a bit much. An acknowledgement of error

yes

This would suffice, but, and again I am sorry if he is reading this,
this did not happen on The Weather Outlook after the "winter" of 2002,
although Tom Presutti and Gavin Partridge *did*, I recall, emit *some*
kind of "acknowledgement of error" on the website forum. However, I can
never recall this appearing on certainly Tom Presutti's website.:-o :-(
Tom says that he has issued BOTH "an acknowledgement of error" AND an
apology, and I now, KINDLY, of course:-), call on him to help me to
verify this, but so far there is no sign of him and his co-operation.
Gavin though remains as stubborn as a mule about absolutely
everything.:-(

, but
not an apology.

Compare the forecasted:
-"a repeat of 1947",
with the eventual, poignant reality:
-the mildest winter since 1998!:-o :-(

The MetO would be aplogising on a weekly basis if their countryfile

forecast
were taken as gospel

LOL!

You do have a point there. However, note my comments just about the
winter of 2002.

He issued his official 2005 winter forecast back in February, 2004!:-o

Brian Gaze has even made a massive thread about it!:-o

However, this year he is actually very much undecided to as just what
exactly the coming 2006 winter will bring.;-)

If we are to believe Ian Currie's super long-ranger, though, then the
next winter of 2006 should have a COLD, and even snowy, start. Then
again, so was his February 2005.:-(

Well, to try and forecast a season a year away is sheer folly in my opinion.
I'm not saying it shouldn't be attempted, but I am saying that any success
with a forecast at that range can be attributed to luck rather than any
scientific basis.

One day it may be scientifically possible (personally I doubt it) but until
that day, luck will always be a huge part of LRFs of that range

I thought you were above the usual idiots Will. 'big Matty H'?? Where did
you get that from then? Don't believe ive ever been called that by anyone
other than people that actually know me and have met me.
As for banned. Your account is active. You are not banned at all. I
remember our argument now you mention it. Although I have moved on. I
guess my not agreeing with your easterly that never happened has soured
your opinion again?
Like I say, ive no axe to grind with you what so ever. No reason to. The
only axes I have to grind on here with anyone are being done through the
legal proceedure

Well I haven't read the following post but this remark alone is the crux of
the issue

"The only axes I have to grind on here with anyone are being done through
the
legal proceedure "

Legal procedure! For what ? That just about sums you and your ilk up. That
is pathetic, cowardly and defies two hundred years of free speech.

GET THIS VERY CLEAR, YOU ARE A MODERATOR/TRAFFICKWARDEN ON A "QUACK, LYING ,
TWO-BIT FORECASTING AGENCY. THAT HAS YET TO GET A LRF CORRECT IN IT'S VERY
SHORT MISERABLE EXISTENCE.

As for that stupid.........remark about Will

"Your account is active. You are not banned at all"

Are you that twisted that you failed to read what Will actually wrote?

"About a year ago I nearly got banned myself "

He never said he was banned! You stupid front for a lie mongering
organisation.

Someone remarked to me recently that you were a mediocre beaurocrat
Yet I defended you "Big boy Matty". I replied that you, had yet to achieve
mediocrity. So you owe me in a strange convoluted sort of way :-)

I guess a spell of severe wintery weather would give everyone a boost

who
loves that sort of thing. It's bound to happen again one day. God

knows when
though as the 'bound to happen' phrase has been said by southerners

for
years now

Don't you agree with me that, on the top of all this, the simple most
annoying thing in the world is botched winter forecasts such as 2002,
2005, pictures of polar bears before Big Ben(!), etc., etc., etc..

England 0 - 0 Holland, by the way. Both teams played exceptionally
badly, and the time to oust Eriksson is upon us.

D.

Absolutely. Eriksson is almost as mediocre as big boy matty.

Well, I guess it could be argued that winter isn't over yet. I'm not
fighting Brian Gazes corner, he's more than capable of doing that himself,
but I will say that he is always the first to hold his hand up and admit
he got it wrong, when a forecast goes tits up.

Well you traffic warden, rise up and admit the man is a snake-oil saleman.
No you won't becuase you have a percieved vision of self importance.

I vos only obeying orders.....

The thing is, there are many people out there doing forecasts. You have
the respected ones, the likes of Brian Gaze, Andrew Bond,

Nurse, nurse! call security another ones escaped.
