Default Winter stats!

Looking at my data for this really pathetic, boring Winter I only need a
February mean of 5.9c to give me my warmest Winter on record with a mean
of 5.3c beating the 5.2c set in 1989!

I am already on 5.4c for this February and the mild weather hasn't
really kicked in yet, however I'm still waiting for my first ground
frost this month.

Looking at the charts as the dreaded azores high takes over next week
this February should easily manage a mean of 5.9c if not higher, after
all we had 6.0c in 1990 and 6.5c in 1998

It's quite laughable when you look back at all the cold weather
predictions made in the Autumn!

I'm not going to say roll on Winter 2006 as there is no point!

It has been a lovely, and interesting, winter here.
Current February mean is 6,3 but then this is the frozen north (-:

But are you expecting one?

Sounds promising. Getting a 'warmest on record' could not be considered
boring ... breaking records is usually exciting.

I seem to recall that no-one here believed a word of it though.

Nope. Best to enjoy the other three seasons first.

This winter has been the wettest and windiest I can remember! What do
you want?

If you consider 14 days of gloom and drizzle interesting then you are
easily pleased!

But are you expecting one?

I think you would expect at least 1 ground frost in February.

Depends on the records broken, warmest on record Spring or Summer I
would consider exciting.

I seem to recall that no-one here believed a word of it though.

Totally agree on that point, roll on April 2005

Perhaps if you look to see how often that happens at your location ...
14 consecutive days of gloom and drizzle ... even that might be a record
(and therefore interesting for that reason). We had 15 days of constant
haar last July/August ... that was a pain ... but no less interesting
for that.

I think you would expect at least 1 ground frost in February.

I might if it had not been such a warm winter thus far ... as it is, I
am not sure if I expect one.

I consider all records exciting, that is why people try so hard to break
them. I think the principle applies equally to the weather, regardless
of if it is doing something I personally like, or dislike.

I seem to recall that no-one here believed a word of it though.

Really??

Indeed ... there were so many posts slagging off certain organisations
that had suggested it would be freezing cold with tonnes of snow that I
gave up reading them. I believe the 'smart money' was on a 'mild'
winter and thus it has been (here anyway).
