Default Coming cold spell (maybe)

Been following the frenzy on TWO (and why not)
How comes Tom Pressutti predicted this when none of our professionals could.
Tom is rightfully taking all the plaudits over there and he should -even
though it's yet to happen.

The man the Met Office fear has made a comeback.

LOL I can feel the trembling up here.

Sledge is ready to go 1000 feet up here in the hills of Devon.
Hopefully that embedded polar low/trough will give us a decent 10cms of powder.

Will.

None of our professionals could predict it? It seems to me to fit in
nicely with the Met Office's winter forecast, which IIRC was for mostly
mild conditions but with the possibility of some cold spells later in
the winter.

Here I am not even remotely worried that my £10 bet ( no 12 day
continuous period recording minima below OC) is even under threat down
here in deepest Dorset. Anyone venturing a bet on how long this scold
snap will last?
However,I will warn some blokes tridging over Dartmoor that it may
well be well, 'brisk'!

LOL "chuffing cold" I believe the phrase is.

I would say any cold spell could well last a week, but be prepared for a lot of
frost, dry weather and sunshine.
Any snow is more likely at the beginning of the spell before the high takes a
hold.

Will.

Yeah, but if you predict enough cold spells sooner or later you will be
right. No doubt next week's colder weather be claimed in the press to have
been predicted by Piers - just a couple of weeks late. Brilliant!

You have to apply a sense of objectivity here Dave,. Tom P has gone for a
cold spell that no one else dared imagine. Just looked at the 18z GFS and it
looks full steam ahead at least for two days of average to slightly below
average temps. I defy you to name any one else who saw this coming.

It's always going to be a good bet if November and December have been mild
that sooner or later there will be a two or three day colder spell.I don't
recall even the mild winters having zero two or three day cold snaps.
