Default BBC Midlands news get it wrong

Evening news weather presenter (Shefali I think) reported that Coventry
had 109mph gusts! Shawbury even higher.

Highest gust I saw at Coventry was 55KT

Think she got her KT to mph conversions wrong....

Rubbish!

Jon

Looks like she used the knots to kph table instead of
the knots to mph one.

56mph in Coventry itself; higher at Bagington Airport in the
rural-urban fringe on a hill overlooking the city & 59mph in the
suburbs.

Don't blame Shefali, she does her best as a presenter!

BTW have you noticed how the media call them "heavy" winds these days,
rather than high?

How irritating!!

Just like 'Heavy Fog' instead of 'thick' like the Sky Sports News presenters
who kept insisting that Liverpool v Arsenal before Xmas was called off due
to 'heavy fog'. Grrrrr!!!

Jim.

That's the media for you. Haven't a clue as always.
I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the BBC will be attributing todays land
gale to global warming!

Now where did I put those birch twigs :-)

Will.
