![]() Is this the only bit of the UK that seems to have missed the maelstrom? Sorry... very sorry (I must learn to read through my posts before I send them!) I live in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear and today we were free of all the breezy stuff that's been causing so much mayhem. Expected the end of the world and sort of felt a little cheeted/short-changed! Regards... DAVID. |

After a bit of "googling" I'll suggest Sunderland:-) And that area was largely unaffected by the winds further south. But that area was always going to be marginal as to whether very strong winds were going to happen. What did surprise me was that NW England appears to have had most of the strongest winds - 91mph at Winter Hill, obviously high elevation but the 76mph at Manchesater Airport is very notable. I expected the strongest winds today to be somewhere in the Midlands. Conditions in Bolton today can truely be described as savage. -- Col 98 mph at Cromer lifeboat station earlier today apparently. We're about 15 miles away and some of the gusts were pretty nasty, our workshop roof suffered damage for the first time ever, though I'm surprised by that figure. H |
