Default Winter 1947 website-memories of a real winter

Thanks for the update George, I've always enjoyed the site.
On the Ryedale page I've just driven home on the road "to the east of
Langton" close to the Burythorpe shots.
What wimps they were back in those days. I managed to get through tonight
without once having to dig a cutting through the snow and conditions were
pretty horendous.
Will, it's OK I mangaged to find a log near York.

"Them folks were well 'ard."

Someone's got their bedroom window open.... :-

It was probably getting a bit stuffy.
They could tell that when the ice on the inside of the window
pane began to melt.....

Walking to school in short trousers (3/4 mile?) must have been a bit chilly,

Ah, chapped thighs...

I remember the slides and also trying to cross roads which were lethally
slippery. No gritters then.

I also remember the local lake having a six inch thick layer of ice on
the surface. That was fun :-)
