Default Odd warm patch west of Iceland - Sea Temp

I don't often look at this chart, so don't know how long this has been
around. There an odd warm patch west of Iceland on the MO sea temp chart,
up to 10C is the centre. Real or erroneous?

It wasn't there on the previous issue, dated 19th. It certainly doesn't
look realistic, unless there's a new volcanic island brewing :-).

Perhaps a faulty sensor on a drifting buoy? That could quite likely
result in an oddity if the chart production is wholly automated. Quality
control.....????

on the same date in 1963. ;-)

Not really a patch, the whole of the south coast is 11C as is a large
area of the Atlantic to the west

It's a long time ago that I saw the sea-temperature chart, which was
probably for the end of February, but coastal areas were below 0C. I think
the Strait of Dover was shown as below 0C as was the Dogger Bank. The
warmest part of the North Sea was near 3C.
