Default A flurry or two in France

Interesting turn of events in central-western France. A wave depression
developing over Spain on the cold front which came crossed England
at the weekend has moved northeastwards into France, engaging the
Arctic air and deepening sharply.

At my AWS at Milhaguet in the Haute Vienne (55km WSW of
Limoges) http://www.weather-uk.com/page4.html
there had been no frost since just after Christmas, but
the rain turned to snow on Monday evening, pulling the temperature
down to within a couple of points of zero. By this morning there
was, according to neighbours, about 5cm (from 13mm of rainfall) of
heavy, wet snow. Since then the temperature has continued to fall,
and so has the snow ... it's now roughly 20cm deep and drifting
badly in the strong NNE wind.

I noticed a few locations in central France reported snow depth this
morning, should be good for the Alps.

Best radar for me atm is:

My daughter will not be amused - she returned from a snowless Morzine (near
Geneva) yesterday, from her first ski trip!

I am actually quite surprised how quickly Europe cooled down..
Animation of the 6hr analysis:

I recorded no frost up to 18th Jan at Olette, Pyrenees at 700m (had been
walking in T shirt and shorts there last week - 18C). Similarly my
neighbours there report 5-15cm of snow above 1000m Mon night.
