Dave Cornwell wrote: I see there is a severe weather warning for HEAVY snow, up to 5cm ;-) , for most regions Midlands southwards, for early hours of this morning. Issued 2231z. Must be expecting some intensification or a " just in case" as we've had in the past. Dave, -0.9C, RH= 85% Spot on for South Oxfordshire, we had 5cm this morning in a low lying area. I think that is the deepest snow we've had for about 4 years. I'm sure the Chilterns just south of me had at least as much if not more. Not so much as a flake in Stafford. "The deil's awa, the deil's awa, the deil's awa wi' th' Exciseman." I hear the reports, but still maintain that ain't heavy snow. And what I haven't heard is how long the snow fell for. Around 2cm fell here yesterday evening til past minight, toal period was over 3 hours. We can often get 4 inches in an hour from showers off the North Sea. If sea temps hadn't been so high some of today's heavy wet snow showers would have shown some fairly rapid accumulation. My other point about no warning for Northern England still stands. -- David Mitchell, 70m amsl, Langtoft, East Riding of Yorkshire. |
