I heard the BBC news weather forecast around 18:30 this (yesterday)evening
(was in another room) There were dire warnings of heavy snow for London and the SE of England, why it was even suggested that the Spurs Arsenal game could be affected. What a load of old tripe! I'm sitting here typing at 12:10 am the sky's over Sydenham SE London have been clear all night. People criticise the outrageous forecast of Weather Action, well the BBC'UKMO are an absolute disgrace. My mother said earlier "Awwl how am I going to get out tomorrow with all this heavy snow that's been forecast" Don't worry Mum it's the BBC/UKMO talking out of their Government infested backsides again. Of course there will be no apology for this ****e forecast. I would rather they keep their mealy mouthed, fear of pension loss, mouths shut, than regurgitate this crap year after year. No doubt Patricia Hewitt and her cronies who now boss UKMO and the BBC around, will claim how fantastic the NHS has been during the coldest winter since the big bang. It is pathetic and the BBC/UKMO crew should be thoroughly ashamed for coming out yet again with patently over hyped Boll&*ks. I'm fed up being told lies. |

Some parts of the south-east are getting some snow showers now
They did come eventually I saw Dan Corbett on the News 24 forecasts earlier, being very gleeful about milder temperatures on the way, we're heading back up to 8's and 9's, back to normal for the time of year Cold Snap... one night with a slight frost... one night with patchy rain... no frost tonight, skies are clear (so i don't know what's up) If we get another cold snap this winter, i sure hope it tries a bit harder |

I'll add that i've not seen sleet in North Devon yet either.
I have however seen hail... but since i've previously seen a covering of hail before during a summer thunderstorm, that isn't saying much During a shower last Saturday, there *might* have been one piece of sleet amongst the hail, i wasn't sure. Temps were still high at the time, i find it hard to believe it was one isolated wet snowflake. Or my eyes were playing tricks in the semi-daylight Winter poo.... bring on the spring-time storms ![]() |

I personally think you're putting your own spin on it, Lawrence. The forecast I saw said of the Spurs vs Arsenal game might see a flake or two, they never said it was going to be a whiteout enough to "affect" the game. They said most of the snow would be in Essex and Kent, and could get far as south-east London. I stayed overnight in Orpington (NW Kent, SE London border) and woke up to a light covering of snow, with some more moderate snow around 10am in the morning. Heavier snow, so I'm told, fell in Kent. The warnings of 10cm were in the "as much as" not "everywhere is going to see". Maybe, just maybe Lawrence, the blame lies in the interpretation of the observer of the forecast?? I told my parents that night, who were setting out on the roads the next morning that we probably wouldn't see much snow, based on what I'd seen on the BBC forecast. Richard |
