Yes, the cool snap we've just had was armageddon on a few runs at that
range, but experience teaches us the real likeliehood. ;-)


You mean that recent drop to normal January temperatures. Well it were doon
'ere any roads.

Back up into double figures with a NW wind; it's all gone mad.

I know that NW isn't going to be the very coldest direction in winter
and this NW wind is really just coming round a high pressure
system and hasn't come from anywhere really cold but even so,
surely I would expect at least average temps, say 6C?
This *is* supposed to be the very coldest time of year!

I'm sure a significant factor is the higher sea temperatures we are seeing
around our shores. I compared the current temps with an average map for
the 1960s only yesterday. Nearly all areas are at least 2C above the long
term mean, and a few are about +3C (parts of the North Sea for example).
It's curently between 9C and 10C off the NW of Ireland.
