Default Will are you still confident of this cold spell?

Or will you be joining the squirrels at Tavistock car boot sale?

Them selling their nuts and you shifting all those cut logs.

Load of fuss over nothing, i think

Some snow, particularly for the higher ground... for the northern half
of the Uk

Well, blow me down with a roof tile.... in early February.
Who would have funk it?

For the 'modern' winter, i guess it should be seen as an exciting
event

Right now, i will take ANY chang to the current conditions

A complete week of anti-cyclonic gloom, and no sunshine at all.
Reminds too much about what happened this time last year, which was
about six weeks of non-stop anti-cyclonic gloom

But he wasn't confident about snow in the south. "Low confidence for snow
and very low confidence in any detail." Personally it's the same as I
thought a few days ago and substantiated by WIll. There are possibilities
but the odds are on it doing what it usually does - cold sleety rain in the
South , some short lived but significant snow Midlands northwards. We'll
see.

Sorry, i'll sound like a wet blanket now

Amidst all the excitement currently for this low next week
I'm happy for those who see a big 'dump' of the stuff

It's a transitional situation... which means get out there and enjoy
it right away
Because the mild muck comes in... slush...and it quickly disappears

It's looking like a cold snap.
I'd love to see a longer lasting cold spell, where the snow actually
get's the chance to stick around for a while

Still using my logs, relatively cold up here you know, even in a mild month!

But yes little change to my forecast issued days ago, despite oscillations in
models. Broad signal was always there, *if* you had the expertise to see it.

OK, of course it may still change (unlikely now), but the cold block will become
established from the north over the weekend (night frosts and snow showers on
exposed coast areas). Atlantic lows start to come in mid-week bringing rain,
sleet and snow. I still expect a lot of (potentially heavy) snow from the
Midlands northwards. *Possibility* of things grinding to a halt further south.
How far south the snow line comes depends on how quickly the cold air pushes
south later in the weekend and on Monday. SW England is not well placed for any
snow (except high Dartmoor of course!).

A very tricky and potentially snowy week (for some) coming up.

Confidence high on it turning cold from the north this weekend.
Confidence moderate on precipitation coming in mid-week.
Confidence moderate on rain turning to snow on hills in south (above 300m) and
low ground Midlands northwards.
Confidence moderate on some heavy snow with drifting in north (particularly on
hills).
Confidence low for any snow Midlands southwards on low ground.
Confidence very low for any detail.

Phew, I hope that helps.

Regular Devon forecast tonight after I have seen all the latest outputs.

Will.

Which is also pretty much what the current Met Office forecast for days
6 to 15 is suggesting.

I think I must be an expert in being inexpert.
