***New to my records is the number of days with snow falling/lying,
hail, thunder and fog. I also started making daily notes as from the 1st January which can be accessed by following the Summary link below*** January 2007 was exceptionally mild - warmer than any winter month (December, January or February) of the last three years. Westerly winds dominated the weather, including damaging winds on the 18th. A gust of 34mph was recorded on the 18th - remarkable considering the extremely poor exposure of the anemometer. A brief northerly interlude served to remind us what winter could be like with three consecutive days with air frosts and snow falling. A very slight accumulation of snow was noted on the 25th, but only on cars. Curiously, each of the last three Januaries has featured a cold spell around the 23rd-25th. Total precipitation of 43.2mm is less than a third of the eLTA, but is actually the wettest January since before 2005. Table: http://www.canterburyweather.co.uk/m...th=1&year=2007 Charts: http://www.canterburyweather.co.uk/m...th=1&year=2007 Summary including daily notes: http://www.canterburyweather.co.uk/m...th=1&year=2007 Temperature Mean 7.4 °C (+3.1 degC*) Mean Max 10.3 °C (+3.1 degC*) Abs. That's better. I'd wondered if Canterbury had moved to one of the drier
parts of Devon! Will. -- What an utterly CRAP winter so far , if it ends like this it would've been the worst winter for this area since some of the late 1990's!. A lack of snow , a lack of sun horribly damp roads damp crap. |

I wish! Although I will be moving part-way there to Dorset or Hampshire in the coming months. The rest of Canterbury will stay behind all being well! -- Jonathan Stott Canterbury Weather: http://www.canterburyweather.co.uk/ Reverse my e-mail address to reply by e-mail |
