Chalfont St Giles - Thursday 8th February 2007
------------------------------------------------------------

0630z NNE F2 1500 -SN 8St -00.6/-01.5 986
RMK: 7 cm of dry powdery snow on all surfaces including untreated
local roads. I don't know what the main road is like. I
think
this is the deepest snow we have had in the 19 years we have
lived here. The temperature had risen to +1.2 by 0330z but
has
fallen gradually since then. I assume that's when the snow
started.

must say Norman the amount laying here took me big suprise (its fallen
so fast),its very rare for this town to bag nigh on 10cm in a single
snowfall and if this continues i must be in prime posistion to get 6
inches

0900z NNE F1-2 0700 SN 8St004 00.1/-00.9 985
RMK: 10 cm powdery snow on all surfaces. The gentle hill on our road
is proving too much for some drivers. 8000 r.p.m. in first
gear
isn't the best way of getting up a snow-covered slope! This
is
probably the most snow in this neck of the woods since at
least
Jan 1987 and possibly since 1979 (though that is just from
memory).
24-HR STATISTICS: Max (0900-0900z): 5.4 at 1520z
Min (0900-0900z): -4.7 at 0900z
yesterday
Min (2100-0900z): -3.3 at 2140z
Grass min (1500-0900z): -7.1
Rain (0900-0900z): To follow -
still melting
