Default Chance of Guildford snow remaining tomorrow?

Sounds like the Guildford area, only 45 miles from where I am got
quite a bit. With fairly low temperatures forecast tomorrow (around
5c) is there a good chance of it remaining into tomorrow afternoon?
I'm free tomorrow afternoon and if so I might take the opportunity to
go up there and experience real snow in southern England for probably
the last time this decade...

Overall this sounds like the biggest snow event since April 1998 or
even Feb 1996 - but here (Southampton) it only covered the tops of
cars. The climate here is an odd one - we get the SE England heatwaves
in summer but the mild, damp climate of lowland SW England in the
winter.

In Cranleigh, 8 miles SSDE of Guildford, we had about 4cm. A little
sleet in the last few hours, with a slow thaw, but was snowing again
around 10am. I would be surprised if we had more than a few patches at
most left by tomorrow afternoon. There will obviously be more higher up,
and if you took the A25 either west or east from Guildford there would
be a fair chance of finding a reasonable cover. (So long as there's no
substantial rain, which removes snow quicker than anything.)

It's interesting in the SE - still quite gloomy here in central
London, snow on and off all morning from light to moderate (almost
heavy) at one point. xcweather animation shows a small low that
developed in the SE that may have beefed up the precipitation this
morning and given slightly more, although I believe this was known
about (the meso certainly showed something like this last night).

I also notice that we're due a repeat performance on Saturday -
although it may be slightly warmer?

Maybe north Hants/south Berks would be better (Fleet and Wokingham
7cm). What would be ideal would be that it remains overcast during
daylight hours then clears overnight, allowing a frost. However it's
cleared already in Southampton so I'm not overly hopeful of that
happening...

Oxon sounds like your best bet. Just nip up the A34.
